Optinergy, Ireland’s leading wind industry operation and maintenance provider is seeking to recruit a General Manager to lead its multi-disciplinary team. Reporting to the CEO this is a high profile and client focused role and the GM will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the business, in addition to guiding Optinergy strategy. The GM’s duties will include overseeing the hire and training and development of staff, tracking cash flow & managing budgets, and setting sales goals by reacting to market intelligence. He/she will also be required to create policies & procedures and communicate business goals in addition to report on business performance to an executive panel at monthly board meetings.


Key Responsibilities:

  • The GM will be required to guide and instruct his/her team with decisiveness, credibility and with an inclusivity mindset in order to drive Optinergy’s continued success;

  • The GM will facilitate and lead the planning and execution of operational projects such as site based major component repairs and replacements and he/she will lead on performance improvement initiatives for each unit of the business by developing processes and procedures to support continuous improvement targets;

  • The GM will be required to take a hand’s on approach within each of the Optinergy departments (HSEQ, Operations, Accounts, Procurement, and the Ops Control Centre) and he/she will be required to motivate and encourage that best practices are adhered to in all departments, at all times;

  • The GM will lead on all safety initiatives in order to maintain and strengthen the existing strong safety culture;

  • The GM will lead the development of best-in-class turbine operation and maintenance and will lead the businesses transition from reactive to predominantly preventative renewable project maintenance;

  • The GM will be required to establish  and maintain a working relationship with key clients in an effort to deliver excellent and best-in-market customer service. If and when issues are escalated to the GM he/she must be comfortable with resolving issues by relying on his/her technical know-how;

  • The GM must be committed to supporting and mentoring the Optinergy area managers on the day-to-day operational activities of the business and he/she will also be required to mentor the operational and technical staff by setting personal and company KPI’s.


Desirable requirements:

  • Previous experience in operation & maintenance essential.

  • Technical Team Management Experience.

  • Strong leadership and management skills.

  • A proactive approach to resolving problems, with the ability to work under pressure.

  • A detail orientated and process driven attitude to Health and Safety with knowledge of the Construction Regulations and PSDP/PSCS Roles considered a distinct advantage.

  • A proven track record of delivering targets and continuous improvement.

  • A comprehensive understanding of financial management and tendering in addition to experience of managing budgets and resources.
